Facing the Communists... Dum-da-da-DA! <-- That's a drum roll.

I don't know if y'alls have been waiting for the promised video or not, but either way, it's here! We changed Epic Cowboy Studios to Christian Cowboy Studios, since... it's better. Nonetheless, we still try to make the average (or the awful - acting, that is) epic! So for this short trailer / film, we combined some things we like or don't like. We don't like communism. We LOVE old trucks. We like DRAMATIC music. And cornfields. And dust. And guns. And people running around, jumping into stuff and driving fast. And explosions - oh, wait we don't have any explosions in this one. We don't like long pauses, but we threw those in because they made the dramatic music land in the right spots. And we put in a trailer ending because it looks awesome! Also, it provided an opportunity to use some effects. I realize it's very rough and the acting is very poor (think - long pauses on my part and not editing it out to keep the music timed just right) and the truck starts and stops too many times, but the truck should make up for it. Just in case the backstory is not at all apparent, the men in the film are anti-communist revolutionaries who are just starting out in their campaign against the Communist government of America. They are farmers who love wielding their guns and cruising around in a pickup truck bed. Apparently they have some technology too. Like cellphones hooked up to sirens and flashing lights. And a computer monitor hooked up to a cheap laptop. They also have a basically useless RC helicopter which was supposed to be included in the movie, but never was since night fell before we finished shooting. And they have some scary enemies which you also never see since I need some more actors and I have to make some costumes as well. So, without further ado, we present to you, Facing the Communists, an epicly sad excuse for a short film.

Go ahead and turn on the Closed Captions - I edited them to work. Have a blessed evening! ~"Cowboy" Nick

  2. Is it a sad video,(an epicly sad excuse) because the truck struck a mine and those were the Communists laughing?

    1. It's just a poor excuse for a video. As in, not a very good video.

Sequel? Well, the boys want to do a sequel, but the first was so awful it seems we need to shoot the whole thing over. With a script, costumes, and more better actors. (That means more actors that are better actors. :D)

  5. The video was fun to watch, and the southern drawl was epic, if nothing else.:) Was the laughter at the end the hillbilly farmer guys rejoicing after demolishing the communists, or vice versa?

    1. Thanks, Hannah! The laughter was a laughter track of people laughing at our horrible filmmaking skills. :D

    2. Yeah lol with a little practice you could be passed off as a true TN boy! That accent was pretty close :)

    3. Reckon I'll have it perfected once I've lived there a few weeks? Mom pointed out that I said "Men of New England," talked like a Tennessean, and wore a Colorado shirt. There's multi-culturalism for ya! :D I actually learned some of my southern accent from you! The "we're gonna fight, and we're gonna win" was borrowed from "How the South was Lost" by the Ramsey brothers. Our short wouldn't have been complete without a reference to one of the greatest achievements in cinematic history. xD

    4. Yeah, buddy, maybe just a few days if I can get you around enough Tennesseans!! I did notice the Colorado shirt and the Toyota hat :)

    5. Yeah, I have to talk to the fellas at Green Mtn. Garage about that. It really should say FORD. But I can't complain, since I did get it for free. :D

  6. LOL! This is such a funny video! Especially the part where y'all are arguing over who's going to answer the phone. :) It reminded me of the silly videos we used to make. You've got a pretty good southern accent, Nick. Did y'all have to practice it alot?

    1. It was intended to be a bit of a childish argument with the phone. As far as the southern accent goes, it sort of comes naturally. :D We did not practice at all, and we wrote no script. Which is probably obvious. I am writing scripts for two comic shorts that I'd like to do soon.

    2. It was kind of childish, which was why it was so funny. :) Pretty soon you'll probably get "too old" to make videos like this. :( But I guess that's part of growing up, and y'all can look back and remember all the fun you had with your siblings making them. But hopefully, you'll stay young at heart (which I think you will) and make some videos with your kids. :D
Do y'all like making stop animation videos with clay figures or lego minifigures?

    3. Too old?! Never! I can see myself being 80 years old and shooting short films with grandkids. :D Samuel and Jonathan like making LEGO stop motions and I've helped them with a few.

    4. Hahaha Yeah, that's why I put "too old" in quotation marks. You're never too old to make memories (or in this case, videos). :D We seldomly make stop animation videos because they are so time consuming and can be soooo aggravating. Btw, your truck sounds AWESOME in the video. I'm wanting to get a small truck if I can't get a Ford Mustang. :D
