New Button!

Howdy y'all!

What do y'all think? I designed it in GIMP, using a picture of an (after 1972) Chevy C-10.
It was rather unfortunate that all the older (pre - '70s) pictures of C-10s that I could find were basically hot rods. :(  And, of course, the faded picture below is a guitar headstock and fretboard with a hand on it. I wasn't really finished, but my "in-destructive, never-failing" APPLE MacBook CRASHED!!!!! (Is that a World Records moment?)
Note: Apple owner is not the same as Apple fan who takes anything that Apple copies to be the most innovative, best ever equipment made in the universe.
Anyway. I think it looks ok - maybe I'll change it later. It is free to be used anywhere you like! (Bumper stickers, billboards, blogs, websites, iPod cases, etc.) This is owing to the generous spirit of open source graphics. Anyhow, sorry I haven't posted for so long. My excuse is nothing better than laziness. Researching woodgas vehicles, alternative energy, and computing advances is often preferred before writing for the general public's enjoyment. I shall try to be more faithful in making contributions to the already overfilled internet. After all, I am profiting from others' contributions. I fear that mine shall not be half so profitable. :(
I think my brain went to bed about an hour ago, so it's probably time I follow its tracks. :D
Goodnight, y'all!

  1. Great button! I'll put it on my blog:) I could use some Gimp tips...that program doesn't seem to make any sense to me, but I like what people create in it. Ok, I'm going to follow my brain to bed too!

    1. Thanks, Heather! I really appreciate that! If you have any questions about GIMP, you are welcome to email them to me. If it's not on here, my email is cowboynick (@t) outlook (dot) com I formatted it this way so spambots can't read it. ;)

    2. I might add that I'm not that great at it myself, so...

    3. Thanks, Nick, I'll save it to my contacts. What I don't get is how to take two pictures and combine them into one (like you did) and it still look like it was originally one picture. I also can't figure out how to add "special effects" to my pictures (i.e. - fading, shadow, black and white, fuzzy edges, etc.) I've always used PowerPoint for my picture editing, but I don't like how they turn out "pixelated" when PowerPoint is done with them:( I was introduced to Gimp when one of the students in the HTML and CSS class mentioned it, but I have issues navigating in it. I'm a "creature of habit" to some extent, but I'd really like to learn how to use a different photo editing software. I'd appreciate any pointers! Thanks so much, and have a blessed day!

By the way, praise the Lord you all were ok during the storm. I've been praying for you, and God answered prayer!

Hope to post to my blog sometime this weekend...

  2. Oof! Well I am an Apple fanboy, and I was even before I had one of their products. Be sure to send the crash report to Apple so they can make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else. LoLI have to admit, PSE keeps freezing mine too. But then it froze my Win7 PC, too. LoL

  5. Very nice Chevy there! The one we owned ('67)is now all fixed up, but not a hot rod. Orange with white top and white grill - really sharp. Wish we'd had the $$ to do it, but glad someone else did. I'm still an Apple fan! but don't get into the techie stuff that you do, so don't get the headaches either! :D)
    Good button!

  8. I really like the button! The way you have the guitar and hand fading out is neat, and I liked your label of "probably a Martin" too. :) I'm sorry to hear the famous Mac crashed! Is it fixed yet?
P.S. I am not a possessor of anything Apple but I do think their things are neat. What brand of electronics do you like? I thought you liked Apple:)

    1. Thanks, Hannah! :D Yeah, it's fine - I just lost the layered image, so I couldn't finish edits to the button. Apple things market on the "cool" factor - that's about it. I think its hardware is pretty good. It's software is nothing special. I am not a particular fan of any brand of electronics; however, I think a whole lot more of Samsung after Apple tried to destroy it. But that's a whole 'nother topic... :D And Linux is still the best OS on earth. ;)

  10. Knowing how nice Martin's are, I thought I'd give you this link to a guitar I found on craigslist today:

I won't be getting it any time soon:) Don't have $800 for a guitar...though it does look really nice:)

    1. Would I love a guitar like that! It's kinda like the one Hannah has. Truck comes first, though. And then, maybe a guitar. :D I found one in NY - $800 and refurbished. Beautiful machine with electric components. So I can crank the bluegrass out as loud as I can! :D But $800 is $800. xD What I thought was funny about that, I have no clue.

    2. I'd love to have one like that too, but very thankful for the one I have:) Changing strings made a world of difference!

    3. I guess "Hannah" is me? :) The only reason I have a Martin is because Dad gave his to me. Yours sounds really great, too. The Bontragers are staunch Martin fans.:)

    4. Yup, that was you. :D "Bluegrass ain't Bluegrass without a Martin," is it? ;)

    5. Now, wait a minute, does that mean you just kicked me out of the "Bluegrass Group"? Do I disqualify now???? LOL Hope this made you laugh:)

    6. Ha!, Well, I don't have a Martin anyway, so I guess you can stay. :D But, you haven't posted any real bluegrass on your blog yet. ;)

    7. Well, I can satisfy your wish, if you could please define your opinion of "real" bluegrass, please???

      Delete
    8. Lol, I hope you weren't offended by that. :D Bluegrass has a lot of driving rhythm, fast mandolin pickin' great banjo licks, and a lot o' good strumming. I do like what you post, I'm just saying is it's not "real" bluegrass. Like the John Marshall Family - they're probably a little refined to be bluegrass. I like them a lot though - they were my introduction to bluegrass. If you want some bluegrass, check out the Steve Pettit team album, Clean Pickin'. Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver play a lot of traditional bluegrass (they do some stuff I would say is probably not so great, but they are a Christian band) Bill Monroe is the father of bluegrass, so he'd be a good one to look to. BTW, he played bluegrass before guitars were introduced to bluegrass as a lead instrument. It's hard to define, but it's frequently characterized by a high, lonesome sound. As a matter of fact, the Maxwell family would be more on the country edge of bluegrass than the traditional edge.
All that to say that it's hard to define. :D

    9. And I really do enjoy the music you post on your blog - I'm not criticizing it at all.

    10. Oh, Nick, I'm sorry. I hope I didn't make you think you had offended me. I was trying to make my request in a "silly" fashion, but it might not have come across that way:) I totally understand what you mean. I actually have a cd that I'm going to post music from eventually that I thought you'd like.

Anyhow, I wasn't offended at all. As a matter of fact, I was quite amused by your last few comments:) Hope you're having a great night:)

P.S. - Depending on what you wanted for senior portraits, I thought your mom put some great pics on her blog! Though the ones in "your" Little Tykes car would work great too...xD
